I was having lunch with a friend recently and discussing my desire to take on a project but being concerned about how much of myself would be exposed. The project would hopefully prove encouraging to others, but it would involve me discussing some difficult times in my life. The goal would be to share how struggling through with patience, faith, and prayer allowed me to emerge on the other side with a heart full of gratitude to God.
As I discussed my reluctance, my friend encouraged me to think about how my story might help others, and how even if it helped only one person, it would be worth it. Maybe she saw skepticism on m y face, because she went on to remind of the scripture Matthew 18:12-14:
How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray? And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray. Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish. She reminded how important God sees and values “The One.” Additionally, I remember my Dad saying that what I was struggling with was going to be used later to Glorify God.
